Biography

Early in life Paul knew he wanted to play guitar for a living, and the age of 10 finally got his first guitar. At the urging of his father he started learning to sing. It was a rough road at first but by the age of 13 he had played his first show at his grade school graduation with his close friend Dennis Silfies. Fortunately Dennis was a very good singer! Prior to that show they spent most weekends for three years at each others homes teaching each other what they knew about playing the guitar. These years formed the foundation of what has turned into a lifelong career and many very fond memories.

Later that summer Paul performed with his uncle, Dave Mezzanotte, in their band at several festivals in Baltimore. On one of those days, somehow they ended up on the main stage at The Fells Point Festival for a crowd as far as the eye could see numbering possibly 10,000. Those first gig in the spring and summer in 1982 convinced Paul that he always wanted to be a performer.

The next years during high school he would be in and out of bands with nothing consistently but he would study classical guitar with John Myers, and major influence in his musical career. In 1988 he auditioned and was accepted the the Strategic Air Command Band, Offutt AFB until he left active duty in 1990. He would serve in several jobs and units in the Air Force Reserve and Maryland Air National Guard over the next decade, and particularly enjoyed being a C130 Loadmaster. Performing in several Baltimore bands and after several band break ups he decided to start performing as a solo guitarist and vocalist inspired by Baltimore native Rob Fahey.

In 2000 Paul again auditioned and was accepted to The Band of Flight, Wright Patterson AFB where he performed in a rock band and did solo work. From 2003-2006 he was in Pacific Showcase, a work class big band at Yokota AB, Tokyo Japan, where he toured Japan and the Pacific region. 2006-2012 he was at Langley AFB, Virginia. In 2012-2016 he retrained to C130 Flight Engineer and was stationed again at Yokota AB.

Today, Paul is a solo performer in Southwest Florida. He keeps a busy schedule, usually 5 gigs a week. He is finishing his Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition for Film, TV and Games at Berklee College of music, and is hoping to find work in this career field.
